Getting my Travel On

The details of my trip to Park City are starting to come together.  I signed up for accommodations at Chateau Apres last summer when I was hoping to be selected.  I am so glad that I did, because there are now no vacancies there. I had heard that hotels were prohibitively expensive during the festival and a quick check of Orbitz proved that to be very true.  The least expensive hotels in town were $250/night and some were as much at $1000/night.  I presumed that I would be staying a total of 11 nights during the Festival so I reserved a room with 2 beds for that period.  Chateau Apres is a bargain at $170/night for a private room with 1 double and 1 twin bed and a couch.  (I hope that I will be able to find a roommate for part of my stay, or have a family member or 2 stop by.  Any skiers interested...?) With my new assignment, I will be staying an additional 2 nights.  The good news is that the Marriott in town is reasonable before the festival and only a short walk from the Prospector -- where I will be working.  I booked a room for the 15th at Apres rates.  I recently contacted Delta and they "found" my Northwest Airlines frequent flyer miles.  I had never transferred them and had completely forgotten about them.  I had 27,000 miles, so I was able to book a free flight.  Heading out will be direct and will get me to Salt Lake City where I will need to arrange for a shuttle to Park City.  Coming home I will fly to LA and take the red eye to MSP -- a fitting way to end my trip.  At least for now the important details are worked out.
